Rebecca Hurst

Role: Technical Officer

Rebecca started working as a technical officer for the group in March 2023. Prior to this, she completed a BSc in Molecular Biology at Stellenbosch University, followed by an Honours and Masters at the Institute of Plant Biotechnology. In her role as technical officer, Rebecca manages the administrative duties of the group and supports the postgraduate students with their wet laboratory work. In addition, Rebecca is involved in a large-scale grapevine genotyping project with the Agricultural Research Centre, and is in the process of building a grapevine cDNA library to be used within the group, and by our collaborators. In her personal time, Rebecca enjoys cooking, reading, and playing with her dog Quincy, and cat Molly.
